Perception and illusion.

First I take analog color photos of landscapes. Then I develop these color negatives as black and white images. Then I work on these black and white images with the sewing machine. Occasionally I also use the pencil (gray tones) or the brush (only for black). The treatment blends into the picture and is read as „one“ at a distance. But closer to the photo the viewer will clearly see manipulation. The treatment turns the landscape into a real image of fiction.

*It is not possible to show a three-dimensional photograph again as a picture. The quality of the photos is just for documentation.

Wahrnehmung und Illusion.

Zuerst mache ich analoge Farbfotos von Landschaften.
Danach entwickle ich diese Farbnegative als Schwarz/Weiss-Bilder. Diese SW-Bilder bearbeite ich anschliessend mit der Nähmaschine. Gelegentlich verwende ich auch den Bleistift (Grautöne) oder den Pinsel (nur für Schwarz). Die Bearbeitung fügt sich in das Bild ein und wird auf Distanz als “eins” gelesen. In der Nähe wird die Illusion erkennbar. Die Bearbeitung formt die Landschaft zu einem realen Bild der Fiktion.

*Es ist nicht möglich eine dreidimensionale Fotoarbeit ohne Verlust wieder zweidimensional abzubilden.

Je commence par prendre des fotografie analogue en ouleur  de paysages. Ensuite, je développe ces négatifs couleur en noir et blanc. Je brode ensuite ces images à la machine à coudre. De temps en temps, j’utilise aussi le crayon (pour des nuances de gris) ou le pinceau (uniquement pour le noir).

À distance, les fils brodés se fondent dans le paysage photographié et l’ensemble apparaît comme un dessin coloré. De près, l’illusion devient en revanche perceptible. Ce traitement minutieux façonne le paysage en une véritable image fictive.

*Il n’est pas possible de reproduire un travail photographique tridimensionnel en deux dimensions sans perte.
